Spotify and Napster

Spotify and Napster are online music streaming services. Anyone can listen to songs from a huge library of music for free. This means a lot of people will be able to listen to music when they might not have been able to before.
Napster was initially released in 1999, and Spotify was founded in 2006. These are both relatively new in the scheme of things, and have created a whole new way of listening to music.
There are advertisements and customers can pay to remove them, but if they are happy to keep them on the page, then the whole service costs them nothing, which could be quite controversial in the music industry, as it reduces the amount of people who would have in the past, paid money for the songs they wanted to listen to, meaning a cut in artists sales and money made.

As well as playing individual songs, these services go a step further, and show you what else you might want to listen to, other similar artists, and pre-made radio stations. This could be good for the music industry, as it is promoting other artists that you may not have considered before, meaning they get more fans, and more people going to their gigs, or buying merchandise and so on.

Screen recording

This is a screen recording I have done to show some alterations on my magazine. I am using quicktime to record it, and I am showing me editing text on photoshop.
I am arranging the text on the contents page to make it look how I want it.

Contents Page

This is my contents page, I have used the running colour scheme of the pink, blue and white.
I wanted to add a bit of variation with the grey background, which I made by using the colour replacement tool and the burn tool.
I have used a variety of fonts and sizes to make it look more interesting.
I need to add one or two photos to the top right hand corner, these will be musically related to make it look like a music magazine and less like a fashion magazine.
I have tried to used a different sort of picture for each section of the magazine to give a bit of variation.
Overall I am quite happy with the look of this page, and with a few extra additions it will be how I want it to look.

Front Cover

This is my front cover, it is almost how I want it, however I need to make it look more like a music magazine.
It is improved from my first draft, however I still need to add something to make it better.
I chose pink white and blue for my colours, this is because they were voted the favourites on my questionnaire.
I have used a dance related font for my masthead, and I have made it stand out more than other texts on my page.
I edited the colours on the main image, by making them tie into my colour scheme, for example I changed the colour of her eyes, to make them more vibrant, and match the masthead.
I have used a variety of fonts, so that it looks more interesting, and I have tried to use relevant coverlines, and lures too.
